Magius

Alright, nothing image-wise to show for the moment, not sure if i'll be coding tonight or not. i did do some work on Magius however. In case i hadnt mentioned it, Magius is a tabletop project... something along the lines of Warframe, but might and magic oriented rather than science aesthetics.

Right now i'm working on core systems in the tabletop and if things get a decent polish i can upgrade the systems to be a full game. woo. Currently I'm putting the player character on the backburner, so stats and skills predominantly. Working on the Armor and the Spirits.

The armor in this summary includes basic combat mechanics and the like. Spirits is mostly about the spells and abilities. For the armor the idea is you pick an armor that gives you a core focus point. You then customize and upgrade the armor to specialize it in whatever direction you want. Spirits? More or less the sky is the limit. You are under a system with some basic rules to allocate runes, each of which gives you a small stat bonus. Once you get enough runes, you can start building skills off of them. That's enough in the way of generalities -

The specific systems I was working on tonight center on the combat mechanics. Right now there two categories of defensive stats - Evasion, which allows you to avoid or outright deflect damage... and the much more complex Mitigation stats. Armor reduces physical damage and Ward reduces magical, both by a flat rate. Then there is Resistance, which decreases damage taken by lowering the size of the dice used (say reducing a d6 to a d4) and Suppression, which reduces the number of dice used. All three combined can net you some really chunky reductions to damage taken, though they are only useful against specific types, not globally.

Outside of the more passive defenses, you get reactions to getting hit. First and foremost while the evasion stat is based on AC from dungeons and dragons, the actual value on it is going to be much lower... This however does not mean combat will be inherently easier, because theres a core defensive mechanic at play - Reactions.

When attacked, provided the unit has enough energy remaining it can trigger a couple of reactions. First is a parry. Parries allow it to literally attack an incoming attack. if the parry lands, the attack is nullified. This could be something thematically like redirecting a fireball thats about to hit you, or catching and defending against a strike outright. Doesn't matter why narratively, the attack is 100% mitigated, no damage taken. This is an inherently expensive action to do so I figure the benefit should also be high.

The other two options are mutually exclusive and last until the start of your next turn. The first option is to evade attacks. If you do so, your evasion stat is doubled. As a specific note and example... Say you have 10 evasion. Your opponent rolls an 18 for accuracy. That hits. You declare an evasion however, and your evasion stat doubles to 20. The attack no longer hits.

The other option is Bracing. Bracing is not intended to avoid an attack, but to mitigate the damage taken. Useful for anyone built to just not give a shit. You are just as easy to hit, but all of your damage mitigation doubles. So if you have 5 Armor, suddenly you have 10 and any physical damage dealt to you requires that much to punch through it. If you took a hypothetical 15 damage, well its reduced to 5 damage.

To reiterate, both of these choices are mutually exclusive and last until the start of the users next turn.

Discord

I do have a discord server set up, before the locals in fact. Towards that end im looking to have a binary community and will try to maintain both to some degree or another... but considering the nature of discord (and other social media platforms) i figured better to have one as an anchor... that being locals. join link is below, made it permanent.

main point to having the discord is being able to organize information and conversations, as well as allow space for lewds seeing as some of the specific games im working on contain such. to be careful, i'll only put more in depth updates on such games on the discord (so far as it is available to me) and maybe a much lighter reference here.

updates

alright I'm terrible about posting updates but i am working.

updates since last time is posting up the chapters for shadows of Paradise on scribble hub, started work on a couple of games proper and started codifying more stories.

not much done on singulares because as i said i keep purging portions of it sadly.

bibliophile still doesn't have a name and likely won't for a bit, haven't done a ton with it outside setting work.

most of the effort in the last week or two has been towards the monster trainer game with supermike and a game based on brave frontier.

in both I'm mostly working on UI stuff at the moment, templates to build from rather than trying to get everything perfect from go. it's also letting me learn the code syntax without getting overly complicated.

i don't have the stuff from monster trainer to show but i do have the last thing i worked on for the frontier project.

singulares

writing a bit on singulares right now, just running into an issue where i keep deleting whole sections lol the one at least will likely be cut up and used later but one i think is an entire write off unless people want to see the opening from a different view as a side story
